I work full-time as a freelance editor. Most of the work I do is developmental editing, but I also do some coaching as well as line and copy editing. I live with my husband and two daughters in Sarasota, Florida.

For a decade, I was faculty at the history department of the University of Colorado Boulder, where I taught a variety of courses on mainly twentieth-century United States history (Vietnam War, 1950s & 1960s, immigration).

Between finishing my Ph.D. (University of Arizona, 2011) and starting at the University of Colorado (2014), I was a freelance editor, working on academic and other non-fiction texts in fields ranging from computer science to medicine to business to the humanities. So essentially my current freelancing is a return to that work in the more comprehensive (and, to me, more satisfying) form of developmental editing.

My first book was published in 2023, and I continue to do research in U.S. history. Currently I am working on a digital humanities project, Speaking to the State: Group Representation at the Hearings of the United States Congress since 1877. The project is funded in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
